The founder

Kelly Mortazavi has worked privately with principals for thirteen years. Companions, case management, family liaison, treatment placement, the conversations that sit between a family in fear and a person in crisis. She has held quiet rooms for celebrities, for heirs, for executives, and for the families that surround them.

She did the work the standard system does not do. She did it well enough to never need to advertise. And she did it long enough to know exactly what the standard system gets wrong.

What she saw

A residential bed. Five strangers in the next room. A locked door. No privacy. No home.

The standard answer to a principal in crisis is to remove them from their life. Avina was built on the opposite premise: bring the clinic to the home, and let the principal stay in the life that is worth recovering for.

The Medical Director is a board-certified physician in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Lead Therapist is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with adolescent specialism. A consulting bench includes physicians who have run outpatient detox programs in Northern California for over a decade.

This matters. The principals who come to Avina come because they need clinicians who do not flinch and do not leak. A family bench cannot leak. A family bench has been doing this work, in private, since before Avina existed.

The brand

AVINA.

The name is short. It carries no commercial baggage. It evokes the Latin avis, of the bird. Of carriage. Of arrival.

The mark is set in stone-cut display, with a typewriter sub-lockup. The palette is graphite on ivory, with a single accent of ochre. There are no logos, no swooshes, no taglines. The wordmark is the brand.

The voice is restrained. We do not over-promise. We do not write in superlatives. We write the way a senior operator speaks: short sentences, no hedging, the single word that means what it says.

Discretion is the product. Delivery is everything else.
